Outpatient Drug Rehab – Ventura, CA
The Genesis Programs Drug Rehab Ventura CA facility is the most established outpatient program in the City of Ventura for the treatment of substance misuse, abuse, and addiction services. We have been serving the families of Ventura County since 1993.
We believe our long term success is directly related to our programs curriculum and its well-trained and experienced staff. Many of our participants come from middle class homes and are hardworking members of our community that have found themselves misusing alcohol and/or other drugs to manage the stress from their day to day obligations. Some come from low-poverty homes who often find themselves misusing substances to cope with their economical stressors of daily living. Nonetheless, we have come to understand regardless of ones economical statues, race, religion, education, or other distinguishing factors, no one is immune to the disease of substance use disorder.
This disease does not discriminate, its often subtle in its progression, and not only does it effect the individual of misuse but it also has a great impact on their family, their friends, and our community. We have yet to meet an individual seeking treatment for their substance use, who’s life is on track and they are satisfied with their futures prognosis. The fact is, those who are inquiring about outpatient services have found themselves in a predicament whether it be an ultimatum from a loved one, possible lose of employment, health or other medical conditions, or legal issues.
Regardless of the external circumstances one may find themselves seeking our services we see this as an opportunity to disrupt the progression of substance misuse and provide the resources that help our participants make the adequate changes to improve their quality of life.
As experts in the treatment of substance use disorder we understand the benefits from each level of care – from outpatient treatment to residential to detox services. – Detox which stands for detoxification, is a service that provides medical attention for those who need to be medically monitored and treated for acute withdrawals from discontinued use of life threatening substances including alcohol and benzodiazepines such as Valium, Xanax, and Klonopin. More often this level of care should be followed by a residential or outpatient treatment program. – In a residential treatment center (RTC), which for some people is a much needed service, provides a safe environment with the highest level of structure. What makes this level of care so helpful for many is the ability to focus on underlying psychological issues and family of origin issues, providing an opportunity to address primary factors hindering your ability to effectively treat your substance misuse.
For some, residential treatment is all they needed to get things back on track but for the majority of those who are discharge from this level of care tend to need follow-up care. This is also due to the artificial environment that helps treatment participants take on such deep issues however, it also removes the stressful issues of everyday life. Moreover, in residential treatment you are introduced to basic recovery principles, which remain theoretic concepts until tested in the real world, which happens only after discharge.
Outpatient treatment often includes two different levels of care, Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP). Unlike any other level of care IOP and PHP give you an opportunity for trial and error as you apply the tools in real time while utilizing resources in your actual community. Furthermore, as outpatient providers you have the ability to continue school and/or work and participate in your daily obligations without having to be removed from your environment causing: lose of financial income, additional stress to your partner, or some other unnecessary consequence from your absence.

In outpatient treatment you get the opportunity to practice practical application of recovery principles, new skills to help you better deal with a life without drugs—communication skills, relaxation skills, recreation skills, etc. While it is a drug problem that motivates you to seek help, we believe that your use of drugs is not your problem, but your solution. It has become the way you cope with difficult situations, uncomfortable feelings, and past trauma. Treatment, then, is about developing skills to better deal with life’s difficulties without the use of drugs.
The advantage of outpatient treatment is that you get the opportunity to venture into life’s laboratory every day and then return to the support of the treatment program to process your progress or lack of progress. Like any new skill, it takes practice to attain proficiency. Often when you first attempt a new skill you are not very good at it. There is a tendency to see yourself as a failure or to conclude that “this doesn’t work.” In outpatient treatment you return to group the next day and process what went wrong and what went right. You receive feedback and support from both your counselor and your peers. You receive encouragement to try it again and to not give up. You hear others share their own experiences and you develop hope. You are learning how to put these new skills to work in your life, one day at a time.
How do we do this? Genesis Program’s Drug Rehab Ventura CA is a combination of education, individual counseling, group therapy, and family counseling.
